Strategic Pillars

A comprehensive framework to activate the street, reclaim public space, and foster a thriving economy

The vision is built on 10 Strategic Pillars, ranging from Economic Strategy (incubating local businesses and artist housing) to Public Realm Design (creating a heavy tree canopy and stormwater resilience). By repositioning City Hall as a "source of civic pride" and treating transit stations as cultural gateways, the project aims to bridge the gap between distinct neighborhoods and foster a sense of belonging for all San Diegans.

This graph visualizes the trade-offs between ten different strategic initiatives. It uses a color-coded scoring system to quickly identify which strategies require the most "lift" or resources. 1. The Axes Vertical Axis (Y): Lists the 10 Strategies being evaluated Horizontal Axis (X): Shows the 4 Evaluation Criteria (Cost, Impact, Implementation, Time) 2. The Scoring Logic Dark Blue (4) = "Harder" / High Intensity: Indicates the highest difficulty, highest cost, or longest duration. Light Yellow (1) = "Easier" / Low Intensity: Indicates the lowest barrier to entry, lowest cost, or quickest turnaround.
